Fire Captain Dies After Suffering Medical Emergency On Duty
Captain Lee Holbert died on Sunday while hospitalized
for a medical emergency suffered while on duty at Fire Station 8 on
Sept. 9

A Carrollton Fire Rescue captain has died at the age of 57.
Captain Lee Holbert died on Sunday while hospitalized for a medical
emergency suffered while on duty at Fire Station 8 on Sept. 9.
According to the City of Carrollton, Holbert is a Carrollton native and
1981 graduate of Newman Smith High School. He served with Carrollton
Fire Rescue for over 30 years.
Holbert was hired by the Carrollton fire department in November of 1989,
and he served as a Firefighter, Sub-Apparatus Operator, and an Apparatus
Operator before being promoted to Captain in 2007.
"Carrollton Fire Rescue is devastated by the loss of one of our own.
Captain Holbert was a highly decorated 30-year veteran, an exceptional
firefighter, a selfless teammate, and a tireless public servant," Fire
Chief Gregg Salmi said. "Please keep his family in your thoughts and
prayers during this difficult time as we mourn this loss."

CAPTAIN FRAZIER "LEE" HOLBET
1962-2020
HOLBERT, Captain Frazier "Lee" Captain Frazier "Lee" Holbert, 57, of
Rowlett, Texas, passed away on September 13, 2020 in Plano, Texas surrounded by
his loving family and friends. Lee was born in Temple, Texas to Eugene Frazier
and Jeanette Holbert on December 25, 1962. Lee was a Carrollton native and 1981
graduate from Newman Smith High School. He graduated from North Texas State
University with a degree in business and later furthered his career with a
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from TWU. Lee served with the Carrollton Fire
Department for close to 31 years. His previous service includes ranks of
Firefighter, Sub Apparatus Operator, Apparatus Operator, and his most recent
promotion to Captain in 2007. Lee was a collector of classic cars and loved
gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting and
especially his times in Port O Conner, Texas and Creede, Colorado. Lee is
survived by his loving wife, Lisa Holbert, sons, Andrew Sanchez of Rockwall and
Jacob Sanchez of Garland, daughter, Ava Sanchez of Rowlett, Granddaughter,
Kennedy Sanchez , mother Jeanette and father Frazier Holbert of Carrollton,
sister, Kindall Dube & Husband Mike, nephew, Drew Dube & niece, Jeanne' Dube.
Funeral services will be held September 21, 2020 at Prestonwood Baptist Church
with Pastor John Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers - Memorials may be given
to the Wounded Warriors Project or Lee's daughters college fund, Ava Sanchez's
college fund, BBVA Bank, Rowlett, Texas. The family of Lee Holbert wishes to
extend our sincere thanks to the Carrollton Fire Department for all of their
love and support. Also a special thanks to family and close friends for their
