OBITUARY MARTHA ANN BRENT HOLDEN
MARTHA ANN BRENT HOLDEN, died August 31, 2003 in Dallas, Texas. Martha B.
Holden was born April 8, 1916 in Dallas to Robert Price and Cora Alice Brent.
Ms. Holden grew up in Dallas and graduated from North Dallas High School. In
1934 she attended Texas Tech College where she met
Wilson B. Holden, Jr. "Jiggs".
They were married October 5, 1935 and celebrated their 65th anniversary in 2000.
They had two sons, Wilson B. Holden, III and Robert Brent Holden. Martha Ann,
better known to friends as Annie, worked in Accounting for the Texas Highway
Department Lubbock District where she retired in 1976 after 30 years service.
Annie lived in Lubbock for 65 years before moving to Dallas in 2000 to be closer
to her sons. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in
Lubbock and the Lubbock Garden Club. After retirement, she enjoyed delivering
Meals on Wheels. Annie was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed being a
grandmother and great grandmother. Annie loved being with friends both younger
and older. Ms. Holden is preceded in death by husband Wilson, her father and
mother and brother. She is survived by two sons, Wilson B. Holden and wife Gwyn
of Whitney; Robert B. Holden and wife Marnie of Richardson; sister, Mary Brent
Bonner of Gainesville; five grandchildren, Karen Von Buettner of Schertz, Paul
Holden of Seward, Alaska, Brent Holden and Stephen Holden of Austin and
Elisabeth Holden of Richardson; and one great-grandson, Christian Von Buettner
of Schertz. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 12:30 p.m.
before the service. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September
4, 2003 at Sparkman Funeral Home, 1029 S. Greenville Ave. in Richardson, TX. A
private burial will follow at
Webb Chapel Cemetery in Farmers Branch. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts
