OBITUARY

Kimberly Sue Holt
Kimberly Sue Holt passed away surrounded by her husband and children on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from brain cancer. She was born January 3rd, 1957 to Lucien & Janette Barr in Dallas, Texas and was raised in Carrollton. Kim attended R.L. Turner High School, where she met her future husband Kriss while playing flute in the band. Kriss thought she was out of his league, but he asked her out anyway once he got his driver's license in 1973, she said yes and they were together ever since. She may not have attended Texas A&M University, but Kriss considered her an honorary Aggie, since she attended every football game both home and away for the four years Kriss was in the Corps of Cadets. After marrying in 1980, Kim and Kriss moved back to the area and bought a home in Lewisville. Kim's dream was to be a mother, and it was here that they had both their children, Michelle in 1986 and Brian in 1991. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church as a Sunday School Teacher and Director of Children's Ministry in the 1990s. She also enjoyed being involved in Brian and Michelle's school activities, especially the Creekview High School Band where she served as Band Booster President and longtime "uniform mom". After Brian and Michelle went off to college, Kim worked part time in the family business as a bookkeeper, and enjoyed filling her days with scrapbooking, gardening, quilting, spoiling dachshunds, and reading books to her granddaughter Abby.
She will be remembered by her children as the best mom ever, by her husband as the greatest (and most patient) partner he could ask for, and by everyone who met her as an incredibly kind, loving and generous person.
She is survived by her mother Janette Barr; husband Kriss Holt; son Brian Holt, his wife Megan and daughter Abigail; daughter Michelle Holt and her husband Darren Dixon; and sister-in-law Kim Barr and her son Tyler. She is preceded in death by her father Lucien Barr and brother Jeff Barr.
A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00 pm.
