OBITUARY

SHIRLEY ANN HOOVER
April 6, 1951 - September 10, 2015

Shirley Ann Hoover (Shields) was called to the Kingdom of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 10, 2015 after a 5 year battle with dementia. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was a long-time resident of Flower Mound, Texas and member of Lakeland Baptist Church. She was 64.
Shirley was born in Celina, Texas on April 6, 1951 to Malcom (late) and Mary Shields. She was raised in Carrollton, Texas and graduated from R. L. Turner High School. She attended North Texas State University where she studied accounting.
Shirley enjoyed the simple pleasures of life most, in particular, spending time with family and friends and through practicing her faith. She took pleasure in planting flowers, gardening, and capturing the beauty of nature through photography. Unbeknownst to many, Shirley often wrote poetry to proclaim the beauty of the world and her faith in the Lord.
Shirley was the loving wife and best friend of her surviving husband, Kenneth R. Hoover, with whom she was married 44 years. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Kevin Trick; granddaughter Jocelyn Hoover; great-grandsons Axel and Ryker Waitman; mother Mary Shields; three brothers and their wives Bill and Shelia Shields, Jerry and Cindy Shields, Carl and Sherry Shields; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday September 15th between the hours of 5-9 PM at Rhoton Funeral Home, 1511 1-35E, Carrollton, Texas. The funeral service is scheduled for 10 AM on Wednesday, September 16th at Rhoton Funeral Home. Long-time family friend. Pastor J. Mark Dallalio will officiate. She will be laid to rest at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. A private reception to celebrate her life will follow at her daughter's home.
