OBITUARY
 
John Scott Hornburg
Stillwater, Oklahoma
February 27, 1950 - October 28, 2020

Doctor (Colonel) John ‘Scott” Hornburg was born in Dallas, Texas on February 27, 1950, to John T. and Mary Ruth Hornburg. He was an outstanding student and the Salutatorian of his class at RL Turner High School in Carrollton, Texas. He attended SMU on a golf scholarship. Following college, he worked briefly in the insurance industry before enrolling in the Baylor School of Dentistry which led to a degree as an oral surgeon.

Scott served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was promoted to Colonel. His overseas service included tours in Korea and the Balkans prior to entering private practice in Nebraska. After retiring from private practice, Scott and Jamie moved to their home in Florida where Scott enjoyed being a rules official for the USGA and FSGA for many years.

He died on October 28, 2020 from complications from Frontotemporal Dementia and ALS at his home in Stillwater, with Jamie at his side.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Jamie Summers Hornburg and his step-daughter, Kerbi Kollman. Other survivors include a son, Nicholas, a brother, Hal Hornburg of Boerne, TX, and many loving extended family members. At Scott’s request, no services will be held. He will be remembered by his irresistible smile, which he maintained until his death.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dighton Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.
