OBITUARY
W. P. Horton Buried
W. P. Horton's illness came to an end last Friday
night. For many days he had lingered paralyzed. A few days
ago he nodded to his adopted daughter, Mrs. W. H. Johnston,
to stop down. He then said "I want to go home," she told him
that he was at home and he replied "I know that but I want
to go to my other home."
William P. Horton was born January 1, 1853 in Scott county,
Virginia and came to Texas in 1875. At 22 year of age
he married Miss Johnie Dickey. He was converted and joined
the church at the age of 18. He moved to Carrollton in 1912.
Never was a father more devoted to his own child than was
Mr. Horton to his adopted daughter, Mrs. W. H. Johnston, and
in his last days his years of tenderness was returned in
every way possible with a daughter's love.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday
afternoon at 3:30 conducted by his pastor , Rev. C. B.
Fielder, and his entire Sunday School class were pall
bearers and his remains were laid to rest in the Union
Cemetery.
