Sooner Police Catch Dallas Safe Cracker
Oklahoma City Police caught a Dallas safe-cracker Friday because his wife was
spotted at the intended victim's window.
Clifton Leonard Hunter, 28, and his young mate, Katherine, were arrested at
Garrett & Company, real estate office, when cruising patrolmen noticed the woman
lying on the ground outside an open window. Both are free on bond on marijuana
charges in Dallas.
Officers said they found the man inside ready to blast the safe. A former
convict and an addict, Hunter is listed by police as a key member of an
organized narcotics ring operating in Oklahoma City and Dallas, according to
wire services. His close Dallas friends, Leroy Moore, 32, and Moore's wife, were
seized in a narcotics raid in Oklahoma City Sunday. The Moores are jailed now
under bonds of $14,500 each on five charges.
Early this month the Hunters were arrested near Dallas with the Moores when city
detectives working on the $30,000 Schepps wholesale grocery burglary uncovered a
narcotics offense. Dallas Detectives Lt Pat Gannaway filed charges against the
Hunters stating that officers found 35 grains of marijuana hidden in their
child's jacket inside their Ross Avenue apartment.
