OBITUARY

Fire, Shootings Claim 2 Lives In 2 Incidents

Two persons died violently in separate incidents in the Dallas area Saturday morning.
John Sheppard, 55, of 2514 Romine, was shot to death in his home around 12:05 a.m., police reported.
A 71-year-old man is being held in the shooting, and is expected to be charged Monday.
Investigators say the two men were talking and drinking beer when the suspect pulled a .38 caliber pistol and shot the victim.

Mrs. Virginia Ivy, 47, died in a 1-alarm fire at her home at 13929 Stardust Train, around 2:30 a.m., the Farmers Branch fire department reported.
Mrs. Ivy's body was found in her bedroom under an air conditioning unit, still running when firemen reached her body.
About 12 men and 3 pieces of equipment fought the fire for 30 minutes. Damage was estimated at $12,000
Cause of fire is under investigation.
