OBITUARY C. E. Jackson,
77, Succumbs at Home: Rites Arranged
C. E. Jackson, 77, retired Dallas contractor, died Saturday at his home, 5114
Miller.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Carrollton Methodist
Church.
A native of Carrollton, he had lived in Dallas twenty five years. He and Mrs.
Jackson, the former Miss Emma Kennedy, celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary in 1942.
He is survived by his wife, one son, George Jackson, Oklahoma City, and two
daughters, Mrs. A. A. Clarke, Chicago, and
Mrs. Marion Good, Carrollton

OBITUARY C. E. Jackson,
77, Beloved Pioneer, Dies In Dallas Home
More than 300 friends from here and surrounding communities gathered
Sunday afternoon at the First Methodist to pay last respect to C. E. Jackson,
77, a Carrollton pioneer and retired Dallas contractor, who died Saturday in his
Dallas home at 5114 Miller following an extended illness. Mr. Jackson had lived
in Dallas for the past 20 years.
Conducting the funeral was Rev. Felix R. Kindel, former Carrollton pastor, now
at Lakewood Methodist Dallas, assisted by Rev. Robert Ridley, present local
pastor. The sermon was based on the spirit of the pioneer symbolic of Mr.
Jackson.
Flowers banked the funeral altar.
Mr. Jackson's grandparents came to the States in 1848 from England. Throughout
his life he had a part in building up this community section, including
construction of the Methodist church where his funeral was held and many of the
buildings around the square.
In 1942 he and Mrs. Jackson, the former Miss Emma Kennedy, observed their golden
wedding anniversary here in the home of their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs.
Marion Good. Survivors other than his wife and Mrs. Good include Mrs. A. A.
Clarke of Chicago, a daughter; his son, George Jackson of Oklahoma City; two
granddaughters Mrs. Jack Blanton of Carrollton and Mrs. Fay Renfro of
California; two great grandchildren; two brothers, G. A. Jackson, 5632 Reiger,
Dallas, and Andrew Jackson, Carrollton; and one sister, Mrs. W. W. Willingham,
Dallas.
Mr. Jackson was born in Carrollton, December 28, 1867. He died at 12:45 p.m.
Saturday. Rhoton Funeral Home handled arrangements. Pallbearers were his
nephews, who included; Geo. A. Jackson, Walter Jackson, Raymond Jackson J. Lee
Jackson, Bill Willingham, John Duncan, Cecil Jones and Paul Thompson, all of
Dallas; oral Jones, Wichita Falls; and A. W. Larson, Ft. Worth.
Mr. Jackson was a retired contractor, instrumental in building a number of
business houses and residences in Carrollton and Dallas.
He was buried at Cemetery Hill, the family burial ground since 1866.
