Evalou Jackson, 94, of Woodville, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025 at
Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville, Texas.
Visitation will begin at 12 noon until 1 p.m. funeral service on
Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with
burial to follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating
will be Brother Jay Abernathy.
Evalou was born June 24, 1930 to George LeRoy and Averill Brake Gravley
in Dallas, Texas. A graduate of the University of North Texas, she
retired as an English teacher from Spurger I.S.D. She was a longtime
resident of Woodville and had been a substitute teacher in the Woodville
I.S.D. Evalou loved theater and enjoyed participating in performances
and going to plays. She was a member of First Baptist Church of
Woodville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, Ben C.
Jackson; daughter, Mary Jackson Stanley; and son, Benny Jackson III.
She is survived by her grandchildren, John Rogers and wife Helen,
Michael Gryder, Benny Jackson IV, and Justice Kayleigh Jackson; great
grandchildren, Jonathan Rogers and Brianna Rogers; and sister-in-law,
Sarah Loving.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in
Woodville, Texas.
