OBITUARY
Patricia Ann James died of cancer on Nov. 24, 2001. She was 56. Mrs.
James was born in Edgewood, Md., on June 17, 1945. She was raised in Santa Ynez
and later attended UCLA. She married Kenneth B. James in 1965. Together they had
three daughters. A devoted wife and mother and natural teacher, Mrs. James was
known for her creativity, service and the loving support she gave her family. In
1983 Mrs. James received a bachelor's degree in child development from Cal State
Fullerton. She retired this year. Mrs. James is survived by her husband Ken, of
Glen Haven, Colo., their three daughters and their husbands Jennifer and Rob
Bernosk of Hollister, Kelly and Paul Dean of Illinois and Molly and Dan Lundak
of Denver. She is also survived by four grandchildren, her parents Charles and
Betty Barnes of Lafayette, Indiana, sister Julie Stephen of Santa Ynez and
brother David Barnes of Colorado. Memorial services will be held at Tustin
Presbyterian Church, Tustin, on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. The James family
requests that remembrances in the form of donation be made to Carrollton Farmers
Branch ISD Educational Foundation, designated for the Patricia A. James Memorial
Teaching Recognition Grant, P.O. Box 115189, Carrollton, Texas 75011-5186. Local
arrangements were made through the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home and
Crematory.

Patricia Ann James
Patricia Ann James, who taught in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district
for 16 years, died of cancer Nov. 24. She was 56.
Services for Mrs. James will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Flower Mound United
Methodist Church, 3950 Bruton Orand Road.
Mrs. James was born June 17, 1945, in Solvang, Calif.
She met her future husband, Kenneth James, at the University of California at
Los Angeles, and the couple married in 1965. They had three daughters who were
raised in California and then in Grapevine.
Mrs. James returned to college to get a degree after raising a family and taught
sixth grade at Dewitt Perry Middle School.
She was a devoted wife and mother and a natural teacher, family members said.
"She was a super mom," said her oldest daughter, Jennifer Bernosky of Hollister,
Calif. "She was also someone who could manage a household and dedicate herself
to being a teacher at the same time. She was a fantastic teacher."
Mrs. Bernosky said her mother was always fair and never raised her voice. "She
was always there to help out and give support."
In addition to Mrs. Bernosky, Mrs. James is survived by her husband, Mr. James
of Glen Haven, Colo.; daughters, Kelly Dean of Schaumburg, Ill., and Molly
James-Lundak of Denver; parents Betty and Charles Barnes of Lafayette, Ind.;
sister Julie Stephen of Solvang; brother David Barnes of Denver; and four
grandchildren.
