OBITUARY

Dolores Jaramillo
October 14, 1935 – January 31, 2022

IN THE CARE OF
Calvary Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery
Dolores was born to Francisca and Antonio Mendoza on October 14, 1935 in a boxcar train in Nacogdoches, LA and was the second oldest of seven children. Her family and friends affectionately referred to her as Lola. She grew up in Farmers Branch, TX and attended Farmers Branch Elementary then went on to R.L. Turner High School where her education was cut short due to illness in the family.

Being migrant workers Lola picked cotton in Farmers Branch and traveled with her family to Indiana to pick tomatoes. In her teens she worked at Lone Star Ceramics in Farmers Branch. Her later years she worked at Westvaco Envelope Corp in Dallas, TX where she met the love of her life, Ramon Jaramillo. They married in 1980 and moved to Lewisville, TX. Shortly after Ray’s passing in 1986 Lola retired from Westvaco. She then moved to The Colony to care for her mother Francisca and brother Jessie Joe.

Lola lived a strong Catholic faith and was part of the Cursillo movement. Her faith in God and the belief of the Holy Virgen’s intercession helped her through many health challenges that she faced. To being diagnosed early on with Diabetes, a Breast Cancer survivor and facing her later years battling with Dementia. Even though her memory had faded we know her love for her Lord and her family was beyond all else. Dolores is preceded in death by: her parents Antonio & Francisca Mendoza, husband Ramon Jaramillo and brother Jessie Joe Mendoza.

She is survived by her sisters, Aurora Benavidez of Dallas, TX, Mary Alva of The Colony, TX, brothers, Salvador Mendoza of The Colony, TX, Carmen Mendoza of Carrollton, TX, and John Mendoza and his wife, Sonnie of Plano, TX; as well as his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Our family would like to express how thankful we are to her sisters that cared for her on a daily basis when the time came that she was unable to care for herself. Brada, and Lupe are her Angels on earth that made sure that their sweet sister received the tenderness of care in her last years living with dementia.

A visitation for Dolores will be held February 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. A mass of christian burial will be held February 14, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Calvary Hill Cemetery North Chapel, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, Texas 75220.
