WEDDING PLANNED

DOUBLE WEDDING FOR CARDEN SISTERS SET FOR JUNE 11
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carden announce the engagement of their daughters, Miss Dixie Carol Carden to Asa Wayne Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson, and Miss Patricia Ann Carden to Billy Ray Cathey, son of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Cathey of 11146 Goodnight, Dallas.
The double wedding will be solemnized on Friday evening, June 11 at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Leon Turner will officiate.
Miss Bonnie Jean Carden will serve as Miss Dixie Carden's maid of honor, and Miss Jeanie Gibson of Dallas will attend as bridesmaid. Tommy Johnson will be his brother's best man while Earl Ray of Dallas will be groomsman.
Miss Jacqueline Carden will be maid of honor to Miss Patricia Carden, and Miss Carolyn Campbell will be bridesmaid. James A Cathey, Jr. of Irving, will be Mr. Cathey's best man, and Bob Cathey of Dallas will be groomsmen.

MISS DIXIE CAROL CARDEN HONORED

Miss Dixie Carol Carden, bride elect of Asa Wayne Johnson, was honoree at a miscellaneous shower Saturday afternoon, May 15 at the home of Mrs. L. F. Blanton. Cohostesses were Mrs. Marion Good and Mrs. Edward Polster.

Miss Carden is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carden of Carrollton and is a graduate of Carrollton High School.

Misses Patricia, Jackie and Bonnie Carden, sisters of the futre bride, and Miss Carolyn Campbell and Miss Jeanie Gibson assisted the hostess.

The refreshment table was decorated with the honoree's chosen colors, yellow and green. Over fifty guests signed the register.

The wedding will take place June 11 at the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Leon Turner, pastor, will officiate.

Asa Wayne Johnson Sr.
1933-2009

Chico: Asa Wayne Johnson, Sr., 76, went to be with our Lord on Monday, July 27, 2009 in Decatur.

Funeral for Asa Wayne Johnson Sr., 76, of Chico is at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elaine Bussey officiating. Burial will follow at Hilltop Memorial Park Cemetery in Carrollton. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Johnson died Monday, July 27, 2009, in Decatur.

Born June 23, 1933, in Dallas to John David and Leona P. (Godwin) Johnson, he married Charlotte Elaine Ellis April 10, 1967, in Carrollton. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard when he was 17 and continued his education while serving his country. Upon his discharge, he was given his high school diploma from his alma mater, Carrollton High School. He owned several service stations in Carrollton before becoming a car and truck salesman.

He is survived by his wife; sons, Asa Johnson Jr. and wife, Amberly, of Decatur and Jon Johnson and wife, Vanessa, of Bridgeport; granddaughters, Stefani Johnson of Arlington and Jordan Johnson of Decatur; grandsons, Cody Johnson of Mansfield, A.J. Johnson of Decatur and Dylan Glover of Bridgeport; great-granddaughter, Makenzie Carter of Bridgeport; brother, Tommy Johnson of Gun Barrel City; and sister, LaPat Brewer of Bryan.

Johnson, Asa Wayne, Sr. Chico: Asa Wayne Johnson, Sr., 76, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009 in Decatur. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 31st at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Elaine Bussey officiating. Interment will follow service at the Hilltop Memorial Park Cemetery in Carrollton, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
