OBITUARY
Claude Johnston's Death
The news of the rather sudden death of Claude Johnston reached our town early
last Monday morning and brought sadness to many hearts. Claude was the younest
son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Johnston of near Farmers Branch, was born in that
community and at the time of his death was in his 21st year. For several years
passed he has been in ill health, having contracted tuberculosis. Several times
he has visited higher and dryer altitudes and each time the change would help
him. His death last Sunday night was unexpected, as he had been out driving
during the afternoon and when he retired for the night was feeling as well as
usual. About 8:30 o'clock he called for his mother, but before she could get to
him he had passed all human aid.
Funeral services were held at the J. A. Johnston home, being conducted by
Rev. M. M. Davis of Dallas, and burial was held shortly afterward at
Farmers Branch cemetery. One of
the largest processions ever formed in that section followed the remains to
their resting place.
Claude Johnston was an exemplary young man and his friends were numbered by
the hundreds. Several years ago he joined himself with the Christian church and
has been a consistent member since. His was the soul of honor and his friends
and friendship were sacred to him.
To the broken hearted father, mother, brothers and sisters, who sit in sorrow
where his footsteps shall never again find echo, we extend the sympathy of one
who knew and loved him almost as a brother.
