OBITUARY
JOHNSTON
The Reverend Doctor Earl Wilson Johnston, 95, a longtime resident of San Antonio, went to be his Lord, Monday, January 24, 2011. He was born in Carrollton, Dallas County, Texas July 10, 1915, the second son of James E. and Sarah Maude Perry Johnston. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Mauriece Vance Johnston, son James R. Johnston, granddaughters, Shaynan L. Johnston of Tacoma, WA, Jayme M. Murray of Salt Lake City, Utah, great grandsons, Colby Smith, David, Mark and Gabriel Murray. Nephews, John Vance Johnston (Carmen) of Boerne, Bruce Langford (Jennifer) of Claremont, CA, a niece, Jane Johnston Adams (Les) of Carrollton, Texas. Education was important in his life. He was a graduate of Carrollton High School, Baylor University, Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. The Doctor of Ministries degree was conferred upon him by San Francisco Theological Seminary at San Anselmo, CA. Rev. Johnston had a pastor's heart having pastored Baptist churches in Dallas, Alamo Heights and Palm Heights in San Antonio and First Baptist of Los Fresnos, Texas. He served as Associate pastor of Baptist Temple in San Antonio and Minister of Pastoral Care of First Baptist Church, San Antonio. He was a 32nd degree Mason. In retirement Rev. Johnston enjoyed representing Baylor University in South Texas and serving as a History Interpreter at the Alamo. Visitation will be on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Wilson Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Television Ministry at First Baptist Church, 515 McCullough, San Antonio, Texas 78215. Interment in Mission Burial Park North.
