OBITUARY

Rites today for Ruth Jolly, 57, former teacher in Carrollton

Services for Ruth Jolly, a former business teacher in the Carrollton Independent School District, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Carrollton . Burial will follow at the International Organization of Odd Fellows Cemetery in Denton.

Ms. Jolly died of breast cancer Wednesday at Arlington Memorial Hospital. She was 57.

She taught business classes at R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton from 1965 to 1974 and again from 1976 to 1978. She taught at Newman Smith High School until 1986, then left teaching to work as a real estate agent.

"She loved young people, and she never had any children of her own, so her students were her children," said June Arellano of Argyle, Ms. Jolly's sister.

"She would take the students on trips and help to sponsor activities for them," Ms. Arellano said. "She would do anything for the kids."

Ms. Jolly is also survived by another sister, Cledith Smith of Krum; a brother, H.U. Hunter of Wolfe City, Texas; and her parents, Edwin and Pat Copp of Argyle
