OBITUARY
Rites today for Ruth Jolly, 57, former teacher in Carrollton
Services for Ruth Jolly, a former business teacher in the Carrollton Independent
School District, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church in
Carrollton . Burial will follow at the International Organization of Odd Fellows
Cemetery in Denton.
Ms. Jolly died of breast cancer Wednesday at Arlington Memorial Hospital. She
was 57.
She taught business classes at R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton from 1965
to 1974 and again from 1976 to 1978. She taught at Newman Smith High School
until 1986, then left teaching to work as a real estate agent.
"She loved young people, and she never had any children of her own, so her
students were her children," said June Arellano of Argyle, Ms. Jolly's sister.
"She would take the students on trips and help to sponsor activities for them,"
Ms. Arellano said. "She would do anything for the kids."
Ms. Jolly is also survived by another sister, Cledith Smith of Krum; a brother,
H.U. Hunter of Wolfe City, Texas; and her parents, Edwin and Pat Copp of Argyle
