OBITUARY
Alice
Nell Jones
December 28, 1934 - January 24, 2021
Nell Jones peacefully joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 24,
2021 in Flower Mound, Texas after a short battle with COVID.
Nell was born on December 28, 1934 in Stamford, Texas to Sam and Lydia
Hanson, and big brother Joe.
She attended all 12 grades at Paint Creek Rural School which was
surrounded by cotton fields. She was a proud Paint Creek Pirate and upon
her graduation she went to work in Stamford while waiting for the love
of her life, Jack Jones to return from his service in the Army. Jack and
Nell were married for 55 years before his death in 2009.
They were longtime residents of Farmers Branch before moving to the
Lewisville/Flower Mound area to be near their daughters and grandkids.
Nell worked many years for the Food Service department of
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. She was very well known for her delicious
cooking. She served as a PTA President, room mother, Girl Scout leader
and was active in R. L. Turner High School Band Boosters. Nell had a
deep love for her Lord and Savior, and her church families, Christ
United Methodist in Farmers Branch and Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower
Mound.
Nell was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, brother
as well as her in-laws, Tom and Dessie Jones, brothers-in-law, Durwood,
Shubeal (Esther), Tom and James, and niece, Debra Brown.
Cherishing their mom’s memory are daughters, Linda Krause and Kay Roach,
and son-in-law Carl Krause. Filled with a lifetime of memories are the
grandchildren: Kelly and Jason, Emily and Johnny, Nick, Matt and Parke
as well as 4 precious great-grandchildren: James, Katherine, Lilly and
Logan.
Nell is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Betty Hanson, Rebecca Brown
and Linda Jones: her much loved nieces and nephews, Pam Hanson Moore,
Teri and Nick Jones, Mike and Dan Brown, Tommy and Lee Jones. She is
also survived by her cousins and many great nieces and great nephews.
Nell is also survived by the Rambo and Sickles families as well as many
other friends she gathered over the years.
We would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Gracious Care Home
who provided our mom with such loving care over the last year.
Because of COVID, the family will have a private burial but will plan a
Celebration of Nell’s Life later this year.
The family will not host a visitation but there will be an open time on
Sunday, January 31, 2021 from 2-4pm for those who would like to pay
their respects at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Nell’s name to:
Trietsch Memorial UMC in Flower Mound, TX
Christ UMC in Farmers Branch, TX
Or the charity of your choice. |
