OBITUARY
Howard Wayne Jones
Howard Wayne Jones, 80, Carrollton, Texas, died July 3, 2004. He was born July
15, 1923, in Mayetta, the son of Harvey and Bessie Gurtler Jones. He graduated
from Mayetta High School in 1941 and served his country in World War II. Mr.
Jones and three friends began Red Rock Cola, where he was top salesman from 1947
to 1950. He worked for Manor Bakery from 1950 to 1965 and for Snap-On Tools from
1965 to 1985. After retiring, he spent many years volunteering in various
capacities at the Metrocrest Service Center and worked several days a week for
Dr. Kenneth Goldberg. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church for more
than 40 years. He also was active on the Resident Council at Atria Assisted
Living in Carrollton, Texas. He married Wilma Cline Jones in 1946. She survives.
Other survivors include an adopted daughter, Tracy Fiers and husband DuWayne; an
adopted son, Michael Jones; and a brother, Clarence "Bill" Jones, Topeka. Mr.
Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Jones. A memorial service was
held July 7 at Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch Texas. Memorial
contributions may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood
Parkway, Farmers Branch, TX 75234, where they will be used to establish a
scholarship fund for distribution by the Methodist Men. "Holton Recorder",
