Shama Kabani (born April 25, 1985)
is best known for being a web & TV personality, and serving as the face of
today's digital world. She is the author of The Zen of Social Media Marketing (BenBella
Books, 2010), and CEO of The Marketing Zen Group. She is also the host of
Shama.Tv - an online web TV show about new media technologies and business. She
has been called a "marketing guru" by the Dallas Business Journal and "a master
millennial of the Universe" by FastCompany.com [1].
In 2009, Kabani was named one of the Top 25 Under 25 Entrepreneurs in North
America [2]. In 2009, she also made the Dallas Business Journal's 40 Under 40
list. In 2010, she won The Tech Titan Award for Best Emerging Company CEO. The
media often call on Shama to report on digital and new media trends. She has
been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week,
CBS, Fox News, CW 33, Good Morning Texas, MSNBC, and FastCompany.com. She graced
the cover of Online Strategies Magazine in April, 2010. [edit] Personal life
Kabani was born in Goa, India and moved the U.S. at age nine. Her maiden name
was Shama Hyder.
At 18, she graduated from R.L. Turner High School. She attended The University
of Texas at Austin, and graduated with a Masters degree in Organizational
Communication in May 2008.[3]
She is married to Arshil Kabani, a Texas based Attorney, and resides in Dallas,
Texas with her family.
