Murder-Suicide
Ruled In Deaths Of Four Members Of Texas Family
(September 17, 2006)--A medical examiner has ruled a Carrollton family's death a
triple murder-suicide.
A report by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office says 41-year-old Samir
Kataria shot his wife and two sons in the head before turning the gun on
himself.
Authorities have not disclosed why he killed his 39-year-old wife,
Shams, and their two sons, 18-year-old Salim and 9-year-old Salik, 9.
Their bodies were discovered Friday morning in separate rooms of their two-story
home.
Salim was shot multiple times, and the others were shot once, according the
medical examiner's report.
Police found a suicide note Friday but wouldn't reveal its author or contents.
Friends of the family said they noticed no problems with the Katarias.
But police said Shams Kataria's sister, Gulshan Mohammad, had checked on the
family recently because she ``had some concern.''
Friends said Salim graduated in June from Hebron High School and was to begin
classes Wednesday at Ohio State University, where he planned to major in
architecture.
Salik attended a private school in Dallas.
