OBITUARY
 
Mary Lee Keith
February 20, 1921 - March 18, 2016

Mary Lee (Kemp) Keith entered this world on February 20, 1921 in Baytown, Texas and left it on March 18, 2016 in North Richland Hills, Texas. She was preceded in death by John Wilbur Keith, Jr., her husband of over 64 years. She is survived by her four children and their families: John W. Keith III and his wife Gail of Vancouver, Washington, and their children Machaelie Ann Keith, of Buchanan, Michigan, John W. Keith IV and Charles Wade Keith; Barry Lee Keith and his wife, Allison, of West Hills, California, and their children, James Barry Keith and Andrew John Keith; Betsy (Keith) Waldrip and her husband Greg of North Richland Hills, Texas and their children Benjamin Keith Waldrip and Katherine Leigh Waldrip; and David Sydney Keith and his wife, Regina, of Corpus Christi, Texas and their children Erik Travis Keith and Kevin Austin Keith. Mary Lee is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Mary Lee, or “Pinkie” to her close family, graduated from North Texas State Teachers’ College in Denton, Texas in 1942 and worked most of her career as a school librarian, retiring from Grapevine High School in 1985. She and her husband loved to travel and camp in all sorts of trailers and RV’s, sometimes with the Merry Mobile Methodists. She served as church librarian at First United Methodist Church of Carrollton for many years. Mary Lee was an avid genealogist and loved exploring cemeteries, historical sites and markers. She was a member of the “Red Hat” society, a local book club, and a women’s circle and the Sojourners Sunday School Class at Christ United Methodist Church of Farmers Branch, Texas. Up until March of 2015, Mary Lee led an active and full life. This last year, she resided at Brookdale Holiday Lane Estates in North Richland Hills, Texas. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and administration of Brookdale and Heart to Heart Hospice for the excellent care and comfort Mary Lee received. A viewing/visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, from 6 to 8 pm at Metrocrest Funeral Home, 1810 North Perry Road, Carrollton, Texas, 75006. A service of celebration will take place Wednesday, March 23 beginning at 10 am at Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway of Farmers Branch, Texas, 75234. Entombment to follow at Hilltop Memorial Park, 1810 Perry Road, Carrollton, Texas, 75006. In lieu of flowers, the family would like any gifts to be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway of Farmers Branch, Texas, 75234. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
