Age 90,passed away on January 24,2014 in Plano.Texas. Carmel was born December 4,1923 in Hunt County,TX. She was born to Claud William Slaughter and Fannie Mae Chamblis who married in 1922 in Greenville, TX. The father that actually raised Carmel was her step dad Austin Jones Lewelling who lived to be 94 years old. Carmel married Woodrow Wilson Wells in her early 20’s and followed him to Fort Lewis Washington during the time of World War II. They had one child together named Charlotte Ann Wells. Later she went on to marry James Paul Kelly and have two more children Jamie Lynn Kelly and James Paul Kelly Jr. Carmel went on to become a valued worker with over 30 years at Collins/Rockwell starting with them in 1962. She received many prestigious awards and was placed in many leadership roles. She had always said, “It took three people two replace her one position,”she was deservedly proud. Not only was she an employee, Carmel participated on they bowling team and softball team and any other sport she could attend. Carmel was known for her strong and vibrant personality. She always left an impression where ever she went. If there was music you would find her doing the Jitter Bug just about anywhere. Carmel had a passion for gardening and anything outdoors. I’m pretty sure there wasn’t anything she couldn’t do. She sewed, quilted, crochet, mowed and could fix anything. She is survived by daughters Charlotte Ann Wells Drayton, Jamie Lynn Kelly Gaskil, and son James Paul Kelly Jr. Also survived by five grandchildren who called her “Nenaw”. Shannon Smith. Brandee Myatt, Amy Mckinney, Jay Kelly and Allie Gaskil. She also has five great grandchildren. Zack Cobb, Kayli Smith,Kyle Smith, Jett Myatt and Kinley Smith. A memorial service will be held for her on February 10, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.
