OBITUARY
KIMBRELL,
KENNETH "KEN" was born April 24th, 1933 in Arp, Texas, and passed away Friday,
January 31, 2014, at the age of 80.
He was an extraordinary son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and
friend to all he loved.
He is survived by wife, Phyllis Kimbrell, daughter, Krista Kimbrell,
grandchildren, Brittani Mathis and Hunter Evans, brother Hershel
Kimbrell and sister Eva
Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his father, Vergil Kimbrell, mother and
step-father Melinda and Roy Reeves, sister Joy Northam, brother Don
Reeves and son, Kevin Kip Kimbrell.
He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and played football at East
Texas State University. He went on to earn both his Bachelor of Arts and
Master of Arts from
East Texas State.
Kimbrell served his country in Korea as a member of the Armed Forces
from 1955-1958.
Coach Kimbrell began his coaching career at Carrollton High School in
1959. During his 20-year career he was also line coach at Hillcrest High
School and Head Coach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas.
Coaching was not just a job to him but a passion to help mold young
men's lives. He felt athletics could play an important part in the
development of young men into
outstanding citizens.
After leaving coaching in 1979, he was a member of the DISD Youth Action
Division until retiring in 1993 at the age of 60.
Upon retiring Kimbrell became an avid golfer and enjoyed the past time
with friends, former students and his son, Kip. He also became a member
of the Rockwall YMCA making many new friends and took pride in regular
workouts.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 5th, 2014 from 1:30pm
- 2:30pm at Restland Memorial Chapel. Services will be held immediately
following visitation at Restland Memorial Chapel. |

Kevin "Kip" Kimbrell

Kevin "Kip" Kimbrell, age 46, of Waxahachie, passed away suddenly Friday
June 15, 2007 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie. He was born
February 24, 1961 in Greenville, Texas. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson
High School in 1979. He married Debra Gentry on March 14, 1992 in Cedar
Hill. Kip had worked for the DISD for the last 21 years. He was an avid
golfer.
Survivors include his loving wife of
15 years, Debby Kimbrell of Waxahachie; son, Jason Robinson and his wife
Susie of Midlothian; daughter, Kasey White and her husband, Mark of
Waxahachie; father, Ken W. Kimbrell and his wife, Phyllis of Rockwall;
mother, Mary Gailey and her husband, Jack of Mineola; sister, Krista
Evans of Quitman; 5 grandchildren, Colton, Jolie and Kaylynn Robinson,
Riley and Kolby White and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11
am Monday, June 18, 2007 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin
Funeral Home with Brother Rick McKenzie officiating. Interment will
follow be at 1:30 P.M. at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. |
