KITCHENS,
James James Robert Kitchens, 68 of Lucas, Texas passed away May 1, 2018.
He was born December 19, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas to Bob and Anita
Kitchens, both deceased. He was raised in Farmers Branch graduating in
1968 from R. L. Turner. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree
from the University of North Texas in Emergency Management. James was in
Public Safety for 42 years in the State of Texas. He worked in the
Police Service for 6 years as a Dallas County Sheriff and Constable, and
later in the Fire Service for 36 years. In the Fire Service he served
the cities of Highland Park (5 years), Coppell (27 years) and Lucas (7
years part-time and 4 years full-time). On December 31, 2016 James
retired as a well respected Lucas Fire Chief leaving a multitude of
friends and co-workers. The Fire Service is a fraternity like no other.
During the late 1980's James was scout master of Boy Scout Troop 744. He
was active in the Texas State Guard through Army MARS. James had many
hobbies including RV travel, ham radio, playing drums, woodworking and
fishing. He traveled the entire U.S. and much of the world loving all
forms of travel. James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Debra Parker
Kitchens, son Curtis Kitchens, wife Janeal and granddaughter Ashton age
15, son Kevin Kitchens, ex-wife Jennifer and grandson Jackson age 12. He
is also survived by his in-laws Bob and Jerrye Parker, aunts and uncles
James and Gloria Westfall, Harold and Shirley Sellers, Jo Robbins and
many cousins. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11
a.m. at Restland Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at Restland
Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In memory of James,
donations may be made to the Friends of Lucas Fire Department at 165
Country Club, Lucas, Texas 75002. |
