Rickey
Lane Leonard
January 28, 1955 - November 11, 2024Rickey Lane Leonard,
better known as Pop, age 69, was born on January 28, 1955, and lived the
best "Dash" until his passing on November 11, 2024.
Rickey's significant achievements were his beloved wife, two daughters,
four grandchildren, two sons-in laws, and all those he cherished. His
love was immense, and he offered the warmest embraces. Known for his
charismatic nature, Rickey left a positive impression on everyone he
met. He deeply valued his family and attended every possible event to
offer his support.
Rickey started his schooling at Blooming Grove and was graduate of R.L.
Turner High School in 1973. Rickey furthered his education at East Texas
State University in Commerce, and later received his Bachelor of Arts
and Sciences degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1996. In July
1977, he married Kathy, the love of his life. Rickey proudly served with
Corsicana Emergency Corp and Myra Volunteer Fire Department, countless
youth Coaching opportunities from softball, tennis, and soccer.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy (Scott) Leonard; daughters
Rachel Pickett and her husband Aaron, Ashley Bennett and her husband
Calvin; grandchildren Addysan Pickett, Aidan Pickett, Calvin Bennett
Jr., and Teegan Bennett. Also surviving are his parents George Leonard
III and Barbara Broughton, Uncle Billy Bell and his wife Brenda, cousins
Keith Bell, Jason Bell and his wife; Dustin Bell and his wife Suzanne;
nephews Tim Scott and his wife Stephanie; Major Ryan O. Scott, Ed.D and
his wife Brooke; great-nieces Ellie Akins and husband Jared, Lily Scott,
Sadie Scott, Reagan Bell, and Greyson Bell. Along with a host of
friends.
Rickey was preceded in death by his grandparents Willie and Vashti Bell,
grandparents George Leonard II and Lucille Leonard, and his brother
Randy Leonard.
The family will receive friends at Geo. J. Carroll & Son on November 17,
2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow
at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Tim Scott. In lieu of flowers, donations may
be made in memory of Rickey to Gainesville Lil Leopards [503 N.
Culberson St. Gainesville, TX 76240], or Keller ISD Special Olympics
[350 Keller Pkwy, Keller, TX 76248].
