Lohman,
Urban Aloysius
December 7, 1926 - August 1, 2019
Urban Aloysius Lohman, 92, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed away quietly
on Thursday, August 1, 2019.
Urban was the seventh of nine children in a large Catholic farming
family in West Point, Iowa. He was born December 7, 1926, the son of
Barney and Margaret Lohman. He is survived by two sisters, Monica
Mathena, Mary Catherine Scolera, two daughters, Sue (Paul) Herrera,
Linda (David) Reed, and two sons, Jim Lohman and Mike (Merrie) Hoskins,
two grandsons, and one granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his parents and six
brothers and sisters.
After meeting at a roller skating rink in West Point, Iowa, Urban
married Marilyn Rose Hunt of Fort Madison, Iowa in 1949. They had three
children and lived in West Point, Van Horne, Iowa, and Bettendorf, Iowa.
In 1965 he moved to Farmers Branch, Texas, and married Janice L.
Hoskins, who passed in 2013.
In Farmers Branch, Urban managed Elm Fork Public Shooting Center from
1965 through 1980. He was then employed as a sales representative for
Tex-Products Sporting Goods until retirement.
He is remembered for his unique ability to tell a good story and was an
excellent euchre player. He enjoyed the company of a close-knit
neighborhood community and will be dearly missed by family and friends
all over the country.
There will be a visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday, August 5,
2019 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710
Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch Texas. A service will follow at 12:30
pm and burial will be at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas at 2:30
pm.
