OBITUARY
Guy W. Lord
Guy Walter Lord, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Lord, was born May 12,
1902, near Hebron, Denton county, Texas. He was converted at an early age and
united with the local Baptist Church.
He graduated from the local high school at the age of 13 and later from the High
School at Denton with highest honors. He spent the two years following in the
Teachers College at Denton and the next three years in Texas A. & M. at College
Station, Texas, graduating there in 1924 with Bachelor of Science Degree.
Following his graduation he entered the employment of the Sinclair Oil Co., as a
geologist,. Later he was connected with the Humble and Shell Oil Companies in
the same capacity.
It had been the happy privilege of his family to have him with them in the home
for the past few Months. The happy memory of those last few days with those he
loved will never die.
He passed from this life at 8:15 o'clock Tuesday morning, March 17, 1931, at the
home of his father and mother in Hebron, being 28 years, 10 months, 5 days of
age.
He leaves to mourn his going, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Lord,
Mrs. Paul Davis, his only sister and a younger brother H. R. Lord Jr. all of
Hebron, and Mr. Glenn Lord of Houston, and a host of other relatives and
friends.
Guy was known from his youth as the boy with a smile. This smile was indicative
of the cheer and gladness that he radiated on thru life-no gloom or pall or
shadow will follow in his wake. He was unobtrusive in nature, sweet in
temperament, steadfast in purpose, and daily lived up to the highest and noblest
in manhood. No life was gentler, no influence sweeter, no memory dearer than was
his. In testimony of this fact, those whom he knew over the state have witnessed
by numerous calls and telegrams that their lives will be richer because he came
their way.
In his life while away from home, at school and in his profession, Guy made many
contacts and these always resulted in friendships. Mr. and Mrs. Lord are
recipients of many letters and comments and among them were especially strong
tokens of apreciation from Dr. A. C. Gettys of Baylor Belton college, another
from the Seminole Reporter, Seminole, Okla., and from Hon. A. L. Duff, county
attorney at Seminole where Guy for two years resided and made a ghost of
friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Hebron Baptist church by Brother R. B.
Morgan of Ft. Worth, assisted by Brother Wilson, also of Ft. Worth and pastor of
the Hebron church.
'And what more doth the
Lord require of a man but to do
Justly, and have mercy and to
walk humbly with his God."
And though from out the
bourne of time and place
The flood may bear him far,
We know that he has met
his pilot; face to face
Sincere he has crossed the Bar.
