OBITUARY

LOWRY, Barbara Barbara Batenic Lowry, 63, of Carrollton, TX, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born December 23, 1951 in Kansas City to Julius and Patricia Batenic. Barbara grew up in Prairie Village and Fairway, KS, where she graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1970. Barbara married Patrick Lowry, her high school sweetheart, on November 15, 1974. Shortly thereafter, the two began their joyous journey into parenthood. Barbara and her husband are long time parishioners at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, where all three of their children attended elementary school. She also spent a number of years working as a Teaching Assistant at Good Elementary. In life, Barb relished in the joy of watching her three children grow into happy, healthy, well-rounded adults; spending time with her three grandkids, especially watching them play homerun derby in the backyard; and laughing with her husband Pat, who always brought a lightheartedness to Barb's life, in both happy and challenging times. Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Kent Batenic, father, Julius Murat Batenic, and sister Patricia Batenic Roy. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Patrick Lowry, children Daniel Patrick Lowry (Lisa), Colleen Elizabeth Lowry, Mathew Kent Lowry (Lauren), and grandchildren Dylan Patrick, Luke Daniel, and Maddox Kent. A Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Mary Immaculate Church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Calvary Hill Mausoleum North Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM. In lieu of flowers, Barbara asked that friends and family consider making a charitable donation to Red Cloud Indian School: 100 Mission Dr, Pine Ridge, SD 57770-2100 (redcloudschool.org).
