Matthew
Marchant was elected Mayor of Carrollton on May 14, 2011,
receiving 65% of the votes cast.
First elected to the Carrollton City Council in 2002, Matthew
was re-elected in 2003, 2006 and 2008. Prior to his election to
the City Council, Matthew served on Carrollton's Development
Ordinance Advisory Commission. He has also served in following
roles: Chairman of the Redevelopment Subcommittee, member of the
Transit Oriented Development Subcommittee, member of the
Carrollton Festival at the Switchyard Subcommittee, member of
the Audit and Finance Committee, and member of the Judicial
Committee. Matthew represents Carrollton and Farmers Branch as a
voting member of the Regional Transportation Council, a 43
member board that sets transportation policy, funding and
priorities for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Background and
Education
A lifetime resident of the Carrollton area, Matthew attended
CFB-ISD schools and graduated from Trinity Christian Academy in
1994. He attended college at Southern Nazarene University in
Bethany, Oklahoma, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in
1998. Matthew continued his studies at the University of Texas
School of Law in Austin, Texas, where he earned his Law Degree
in December, 2000. He is also a graduate of Leadership
Metrocrest, Class XXI. Professional and Personal
Matthew is a partner at Strasburger & Price, LLP, where he
practices as a real estate and finance attorney. Matthew has
been married to his wife, Lindsay, for 10 years and is the proud
father of two daughters.
