OBITUARY
MARSH
FRED C., JR.
Was born January 20, 1925 in Farmers Branch, Texas. He graduated from
Farmers Branch Elementary and
Carrollton High School. The Marsh family
were early settlers coming to Dallas County from Kentucky in 1844 as part of the
Peters Colony. It was a land settlement scheme devised by English
speculators and authorized by the Republic of Texas to help populate the nations
vast open spaces. In 1850, the Marshes received the land certificate for 650
acres. This is now known as Marsh Lane. The Marsh Junior High is also located on
the original land grant. Following his father's footsteps, Fred
owned and operated Fresh Marsh Automotive in Farmers Branch most of his life.
He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but but seen most at home in the garage or
his wood working shop. For the past eight or nine years, he voluntarily
had taken over the responsibility for caring for the
old family cemetery.
He spent many hours mowing and trimming the early settlers graves. Mr.
Marsh is survived by Jean H. Marsh, wife of 50 years, sister
Erlyn M. Raisbeck
of Bloomington, Wisconsin, nephews Richard M. Raisbeck of New Berlin, Wisconsin,
John David Raisbeck of Beloit, Wisconsin and several great nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 13, 1998 at 2:00 P.M. at
Rhoton Chapel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 P.M. Sunday,
April 12, 1998. Pastor Elaine Bussey and Rev. Joe Shaffer of Webb Chapel
United Methodist Church will officiate.
