OBITUARY
Marx, Karen Christine (Carroll) Was called to her heavenly home on
Saturday, June 5, 2010. She was born on June 26, 1965 in Zweibruecken, Germany
to Richard and Christa Carroll. She moved to the United States when she was 5
years old and lived in Pennsylvania with her parents and 2 younger brothers. The
family moved to the Dallas area in 1975. She attended North Garland High school
and graduated in 1983. She attended college at East Texas State University in
Commerce majoring in math with minor degrees in education and counseling and
graduated in 1987. She taught math at Spence Middle School in the Dallas ISD
from 1987 - 2001. In 2001, she started teaching math at R.L. Turner High School
in Carrollton retiring in January of 2010. For many years she attended Prince of
Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton where she was active in the Singles group
and loved to entertain and host parties at her home. She married Rodney Marx on
April 4, 2009 in a wonderful ceremony at Taylor, Texas. Karen and Rodney made
their home in Plano and attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Plano. Karen was
preceded in death by her youngest brother James Carroll, her grandparents Joseph
and Jeanne Carroll and Aunt Margaret Mary Stoiaken. She is survived by husband
Rodney Marx of Plano, mother Christa Carroll of Plano, father Richard D Carroll
of Garland and brother Richard J Carroll and wife Aimee along with nieces Nicole
and Renee of Munich, Germany. She is also survived by aunts and uncles Joseph
and Vanessa Carroll of Lewisberry Pennsylvania, Dennis Carroll and Leslie Hill
of Chevy Chase Maryland, Timothy and Pamela Carroll of Harrisburg Pennsylvania,
Eugene Carroll and Barbara Koppel of New York City, Larry Stoiaken of
Minneapolis Minnesota, Alan and Theresa Schweser of Arlington Virginia and Guido
and Helene Pascale of Barre Massachusetts. She is also survived by many loving
first and second cousins and great aunts and uncles. The family will receive
visitors on Wednesday, June 9 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Restland Funeral home at
13005 Greenville Ave in Dallas. A service of the celebration of the life of
Karen will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 10 at Messiah Lutheran Church at 1801
West Plano Parkway in Plano with the Rev. Victor Kollmann officiating. Burial
will be in the Restland cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, SPCA or the charity
of your choice.
