OBITUARY
Linda Gail Mathis
Linda Gail Mathis of Carrollton, Texas, passed away Sept. 09, 2010, and her
funeral service was held Sept. 13, 2010. She was born Linda Gail Umphress in
Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 30, 1941. She was preceded in death by her father,
Vance R. Umphress, and mother, Effie Mae Umphress.
Gail is survived by husband, James L. Mathis II; daughter, Deborah Cusic and her
husband, Tom; sons, Daniel Mathis and David Mathis; grandchildren, Hailey and
Brittany Cusic, and James, Wade and Alex Mathis; sister, Sandra Kay Jessup of
Cleburne; nephews, Randle Jessup of Houston and Ronald Jessup Sr. of Rio Vista;
grandnephew, Junior Jessup; and grandniece, Reagan Jessup of Rio Vista.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and a friend to many. Gail was a member
of the Church of Christ and for many years helped her church send out and grade
Bible correspondence courses. She was a member of Carrollton Women’s Club. She
had attended Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas. She will be missed.

Linda Gail Mathis
Linda Gail Mathis of Carrollton, Texas passed away September 09, 2010. Her
funeral was held September 13, 2010 in Lewisville, Texas. Born Linda Gail
Umphress in Fort Worth, Texas, December 30, 1941, she is preceded in death by
her father, Vance R. Umphress, and mother, Effie Mae Umphress. Linda Gail
attended Texas A & I College in Kingsville, Texas prior to marriage.
Gail is survived by her husband, James L. Mathis II; daughter Deborah Cusic and
her husband, Tom; sons Daniel Mathis and David Mathis; five grandchildren;
Hailey and Brittany Cusic and James, Wade and Alex Mathis. Other survivors
include sister, Sandra Kay Jessup of Cleburne; nephews Randle Jessup of Houston
and Ronald Jessup, Sr. of Rio Vista; grandnephew Junior Jessup and grandniece,
Reagan Jessup of Rio Vista. She is survived by many relatives from Granbury and
Cleburne, Texas. She has numerous relatives in various areas of the country from
her husband’s side of the family. She and her husband were looking forward to
their fiftieth wedding anniversary as they had wed September 30, 1960. She was a
loving mother and grandmother and a friend to many. Gail was a member of the
Church of Christ and for many years helped her church send out and grade Bible
correspondence courses. She was active for over two decades as a member of the
Carrollton Woman’s Club. She will be missed. Memorial contribution can be made
to the charity of your choice.
