OBITUARY
 

Frances Janet Mayberry DECEMBER 17, 1945 – FEBRUARY 26, 2022 Francis Janet Mayberry was born December 17, 1945 and passed away February 26, 2022. She was proceeded in death by her father, Lewis Mayberry, mother, Juanita Mayberry, and brother, Mitchell Mayberry. She is survived by sister-in-law Linda Mayberry, nephews Mitch Mayberry Jr., Mike Mayberry, and niece Patti Barnard. Also surviving are 8 grand nephews, 1 grand niece and cousins. Jan was a lifelong Carrollton resident. She graduated in 1964 from R.L. Turner as salutatorian of her class. She received her degree from North Texas State University and returned to the school district as a science teacher. She began teaching at Dewitt Perry Middle School and finished her career at R.L. Turner, where she retired in 2002 after 34 years in the district. At her retirement she was described as a loved and respected teacher. She was a proud member of the Titus Travis chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. Jan had strong faith, a generous, and loving spirit and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Remembrances may be made to Mayberry Memorial which was created in memory of her nephew, Steve Mayberry. Their mission is Project Conquer to fund genetic testing for Lynch Syndrome, a hereditary gene for cancer.
