OBITUARY

MAYFIELD
Myrtle Gladys Mayfield, born Dec. 27, 1911, passed away June 29, 1999 at age 87. Myrtle was a Plano resident most of her life and graduated from Plano High School. She married Paul Mayfield on Oct. 13, 1928 and he preceded her in death in June 1973. She was baptized in White Rock Creek in 1927 and was a member of First Baptist Church, Plano and the Rebekka Lodge of Richardson. Myrtle was well known for her sewing ability and her green thumb. Her family meant more to her than diamonds or bars of gold and she showed no favorites. She was particuarly proud of the fact that her three sons, a son-in-law and a grandson were fire chiefs, fire marshalls and fire lieutenants in north Texas cities, stretching from Richardson to Seguine. Myrtle is also predeceased by her parents, Annie and Elrod Brinkley, son Lee Everette Mayfield, daughter Peggy Jo Shanks and son-in-law, James C. Shanks.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Paul Wayne and Pat Mayfield of Pottsboro, Jackie Russell and Pat Mayfield of Cedar Hill and daughter in law Patsy Mayfield of Allen; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Danny and Lana Mayfield, Terry and Terry Mayfield, Chuck and Sharolyn Mayfield, Peggy Jean and Jeff Bogg, Johnnny Shanks, Leah (Sissy) and Loyal Hill, Rusty and Carol Mayfield, Steve Mayfield, Paula Mayfield, Dean Mayfield, Misty Mayfield, great grandchildren and their spouses Brad and Katie Mayfield, Angie Mayfield, Stacey and Ernest Neumann, Jennifer and Cory Warrick, Amanda Mayfield, Will Mayfield, Andrew Mayfield, Jessica Bogg, Collin Mayfield, Nicholas Mayfield and Holly Hill. Myrtle's funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 2, 1999 in the chapel of Ted Dickey Funeral Home with interment to follow at Furneaux Cemetery in Carrollton.
