Billy Wayne McBride

Billy Wayne McBride, age 71, of McKinney, Texas, went to be with the Lord, November 21, 2012, in McKinney, Texas. Billy was born December 18, 1940, in Marshall, Texas, to Isaac David and Nannie Ruth (Fyffe) McBride. He grew up in Marshall and graduated from high school at Rockdale, Texas. He married Chessie Sue Watkins on August 11, 1961, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

Bill attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas for one year. He received a bachelor degree in math from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He received a master of divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas in 1992.

He played football for one year at Howard Payne and 3 years at Fort Lewis College.

He taught Math and coached football in Dolores, Colorado and Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

He was a financial officer at First National Bank of Dallas, Texas. He served in various volunteer positions with the bank. He owned and operated the Rocky Mountain Mining Co. Restaurant in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. He was a football announcer for KPAG radio in Pagosa Springs, Colorado during the 1979-1980 seasons. He was a Basketball Referee for the North Dallas Area Referee Association in 1982-1986. He was a Security Screener for the Transportation Security Administration at Love Field in Dallas, Texas from 2002-2004. He was a teacher and coach in Malakoff, Texas. Bill was a permanent Substitute Teacher at Irving I.S.D. 1999 and 2005.

Bill was an Evangelistic Missionary for International Crusades, going to India and Uganda in 1987-1989. He has been a minister since 1987 and was a pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd, Texas, as well as Baxter Baptist Church in Athens, Texas. Bill was also on staff at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, Texas, where he served as Mission Pastor at Bentley Manor Assisted Living for nine years, 1999-2008.

Bill enjoyed golf and coaching his children in sports as they grew up. He loved model railroading, and was very adept at building things with wood.

He is survived by his wife, Chessie McBride; sons, David Ray McBride and wife, Cheryl of McKinney, Texas; and Jeffrey Wayne McBride and wife, Tracey of Savannah, Georgia; son-in-law, David Allen (Skip) Jasper of Peggs, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jessica Jasper Ring and husband, Rowdy; Chanel McBride, Patrick McBride, Austin McBride, Holly McBride, and Natalie McBride; great-grandchildren, Alexis Karen Ring and Allison Sarah Ring; sister, Betty Willett and husband, Ronnie of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; an aunt, Norma Taylor; an uncle, Earl Burks; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Karen Lynn McBride Jasper.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery in Carrollton, Texas.

The family will receive family and friends during visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
