OBITUARY
 
William “Willie” Lee McCord, Jr., age 72, of Bodcaw, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Monday, October 2, 2023.

William was born August 13, 1951, in Dallas, Texas to William (Bill) McCord and Alta Pearl Bradshaw McCord. He was raised in Farmers Branch, Texas. Upon graduating from R.L. Turner High School, William was drafted into the Navy. He was an aircraft mechanic for the F-4 Phantom and was part of the Fighter Squadron, “The Fighting 202”. When he moved to Arkansas in 1979, he went to work for Nevada Gamebirds as a professional guide, and later retired from the Arkansas Forestry Commission where he had worked for 14 years as the Nevada County Ranger.

To know William was to know laughter. He was a jokester and always had a great story to tell. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Rosston, Arkansas.

He is preceded by his parents, Bill and Alta McCord and brother, Michael Keith McCord.

He is survived by his spouse of 45 years, Wilma Ernestine McCord; two daughters, Rebecca Vanessa McCord (Kevin) and Sara Ashley McCord (Kay) both of Hope; one granddaughter, Analisa Gabrielle Haynes who called him “Papa Bear”; three brothers, James Earl McCord of Gainesville, TX, Roy Gene McCord (Mary) of Carrollton, TX, Donald Ray McCord (Desiree) of Hot Springs, AR; sister, Donna Faye Dotson (John) of Forney, TX; and a host of other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00pm Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Corinth Baptist Church in Bodcaw with Bro. Charles Loyed officiating, under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Homes-Hope.
