OBITUARY

McMILLEN
J. W., born August 12, 1924 to Frank and Ethel (Brown) McMillen, went to be with the Lord on September 22, 2003.  On June 15, 1946, he married Mary Helen Eastep McMillen.  His schooling was at Carrollton, Texas.  He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 to 1947.  He retired from the Dallas Fire Department after thirty-two years of service.  He was an active Christian and served as deacon at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, First Baptist Church of Little Elm, and First Baptist Church of Denton where he was bestowed the honor of Deacon Emeritus.  He was an accomplished woodsman and carpenter.  He loved people and expressed it by a beautiful smile.  He was survived by his wife of fifty-seven years; son, Daniel McMillen and wife, Janet; daughter, Joan McMillen Briody and husband Jim; daughter, Amy McMillen Templin and husband Kirk; five grandchildren, Jessica Strauss Kelling and husband Robert, Christian Strauss and wife, Brenda, Catherine McMillen, Caily McMillen, and Adam Templin; four great grandchildren, Victoria Kelling, Emily Kelling, Mary Hannah Strauss and Christian Strauss, Jr. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home will be in charge of the services. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday September 24, 2003. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday September 25, 2003 at First Baptist Church of Denton with Dr. Jeff Williams, Dr. Wayne Blankenship, Dr. Larry Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas.  Pallbearers will be: Randall Chambers, David Chambers, Richard Hale, Christian Strauss, Robert Kelling, Anthony Price; honorary pallbearers will be: Adam Templin, the Deacon Body and the Armstrong Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Denton. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
