OBITUARY
MITCHELL
JAMES WELDON born 6-14-1924 in Coppell, and passed away 8-27-2003 in Farmers
Branch. Weldon grew up in Roanoke and later resided in Farmers Branch/Carrollton
for 43 yrs. He is predeceased by parents Ed & Ruby Mitchell, brother Edward &
daughter Melissa April. Weldon is survived by wife of 52 yrs.
Marshalleen
Shafer, son James Weldon Jr., daughter Melanie Hayes (Keith), & Annissa
Mitchell, grandchildren Melissa Cox (Matt), Bradley & Heather Mitchell, Laurel &
Ashton Hayes. He retired from D.I.S.D. after 25 yrs of service. He also served
in Co. B 671st Tank Destroyer Battalion on Leyte Island & in the 820th Military
Police Co. in Germany during WWII. Family will receive friends Fri., 6-9 PM at
Rhoton Funeral Home. A service will be held Sat., 2 PM at Webb Chapel Church of
Christ with interment to follow at
Hilltop Memorial Park.
