OBITUARY
 
Walter Robert Monk Sr., Was born to Bud and Edna Monk on February 26, 1935 in Centerville, Texas. He passed away in Crossroads, Texas on December 4, 2009 at the age of 74. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Wilma Sadler Monk, son, Walter R. Monk, Jr. and wife, Phyllis, of Crossroads, daughter, Karen Monk Lee and husband, Mike, of Corinth, son, Garry D. Monk and wife, Paula, of Corinth. Grandsons, Cody Monk, Rocky Monk and wife, Caresse, Walter Lee and wife, Amber, Austin Monk. Granddaugh-ters, Mandy Miller and Kerri Willey and husband, Scott. Six great grandchildren, two loving and devoted sisters, Mina Carroll and Tinka Hairgrove, of Dallas and a host of extended family and friends. Walter is preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers, Bobby, Jim and Richard Monk. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who was the rock of the family. Throughout his life he enjoyed horses, his ranch in Crossroads and classic model car's. He worked in the construction industry beginning at the age of 12, starting North Dallas Drywall & Acoustic in 1962, then North Dallas Paint and Drywall in 1968. He employed many people for years until his retirement in 2002. At the age of 72 he took up guitar lessons. Playing with his church choir was one of his greatest blessings. He was a member of Faith Assembly Church in Aubrey and loved his pastor and fellow members. He loved his children no matter what and was always there to support them. He was always helping others in need; a constant giver in his lifetime. He had a twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Your family loves you and you will be in their hearts forever. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, December 7, 2009, at Restland's Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday December 6, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home.
