OBITUARY
Mooney, Luke Elmo Luke Elmo Mooney passed peacefully into the Lord's loving
hands on December 3, 2010. Born April 4, 1923 to Henry D. & Claudia Mooney in
Brashear, Texas. He graduated May 30, 1941 and entered Texas A&M University of
College Station, Texas in '41. He served the U.S. Army in WWII, 764th Tank Amph.
Tractor Bn., traveling the U.S., training men for overseas duty. Graduated from
Draughon's Business College in 1946 and Easter morning of that year at Gaston
Avenue Baptist Church, accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Married Erma Lee
July 17, 1947 at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, Dr. Marshall W. Craig,
officiating. Worked with Associated Investment until 1958 when he left to join
the Dallas County Sheriff's Civil Department. Luke took early retirement in 1980
to join his wife at Superior Products Company (Sue-Pree', Lisa Mornay, S-P
products) as Executive Vice President. He held membership at First Baptist
Church, Farmers Branch and the East Dallas Lodge #1200, James A. Smith Lodge
#395, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Hella Temple Shriner, Order of the Eastern Star
#687, Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Museum of Art and the Dallas County Sheriff J.E.
"Bill" Decker Deputy Association. A Celebration of the Grateful Remembrances of
the Life of Luke E. Mooney will be held at the First Baptist Church, Farmers
Branch, Texas, Rev. Sam Underwood officiating. Viewing will be held at 1:00 p.m.
with a service to follow at 2:00. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are members of
Luke's Sunday School Class, East Dallas Lodge #1200, James A. Smith Lodge #395
and The Dallas County Sheriff J.E. "Bill" Decker Deputy Association. A private
entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
