OBITUARY

William Donald Morelock
June 5, 1936 - December 14, 2019

William Donald Morelock, age 83, of Heath, TX, passed away on the evening of December 14, 2019. He was born June 5, 1936, in Lancaster, TX, to William Porter Morelock and Ruth Bernice (Chapman) Morelock. William always went by “Don”. He was in the Army National Guard for 8 years and was a Christian man who was a member of the Masons for most of his life. He worked in the post office for 38 years and became postmaster in Waxahachie and Mesquite; after his career as a postmaster, he continued his education and became a realtor in the DFW area, where he spent the next 24 years until retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband for 42 years to his wife, Frances.

Don was a hard worker and showed his grandchildren how to care for things that you work hard for. His grandchildren knew him by "Pawpaw". Pawpaw also taught them to play billiards and would spend the summer days with them in the swimming pool. He loved old westerns and old classic country music which filled his jukebox. His antique automobiles were his favorite hobby and he had quite a collection. His favorite TV shows were CSI and old westerns and his family has fond memories of sitting down and watching that with him after a long day of work. Don enjoyed Braum’s hamburgers and strawberry malts, peanut butter and banana sandwiches; sometimes peanut butter and apple sandwiches too. “Granny” (Frances) was the light of his life and the apple of his eye. He will be missed deeply by everyone who loved him.

Don is survived by his loving wife: Frances Marie (Griffin) Morelock of Heath, TX; daughters: Ladonna Adams and spouse David of Rowlett, TX, Leanna Moore and spouse Kenneth of Red Oak, TX, and Cindy Chancellor and close friend, Michael Morgan, of Rockwall, TX; sons: DeWayne Chancellor and spouse Shelli of Royse City, TX, and Ronnie Chancellor of Forney, TX; sister: Venita Thomas of Carrollton, TX; brother: Gene Peacock of Pilot Point, TX; sister-in-law: Faye Ridinger of Wichita Falls, TX; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers-in-law: Kenneth Thomas and Willie Griffin; and his sister-in-law: Betty Peacock.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.

Honorary pallbearers: DeWayne Chancellor, Ronnie Chancellor, Jason Chancellor, Jeremy Porter, Blake Chancellor, and Trent Chancellor. Michael Morgan will be delivering the eulogy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the Alzheimer's Association in his name. https://alzfdn.org/

A Poem by Kathleen Coelho
God saw you getting tired
and a cure was not to be
so He put His arms around you
and whispered, “Come to Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
