Rhonda Darlene Morton, 52, of Grapevine, Texas was greeted by her
Heavenly Father on February 23, 2019. Rhonda, or Darlene as she was
known as a child, was born on September 12, 1966 to Robert and Lois
Moore in Dallas, Texas. Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, James
(Jim) Houston Morton of Grapevine, Texas, her father Robert R. Moore and
wife Patsy of Thomaston, Texas, her mother Lois L. Patterson Moore of
Duncanville, Texas, her brother Eric D. Moore and wife Dena of Elkhart,
Texas, her brother Adam Moore of Venice Beach, California, her son
Preston S. McCallum and wife Heather of Mineola, Texas, her son Hayden
S. McCallum of Ben Wheeler, Texas, her step daughter Marissa N. Morton
of Tampa, Florida, her step daughter Allison L. Morton of Las Vegas,
Nevada , her adored granddaughter Annalee Joy McCallum of Mineola, Texas
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rhonda understood her need for salvation and accepted Jesus Christ as
her Savior at a young age. As a teenager she moved from Dallas to
Farmers Branch and graduated from R. L. Turner High School in 1985.
Rhonda was blessed with two sons, Preston and Hayden by her first
marriage, and was blessed again with two step daughters when she married
Jim Morton on September 4, 2015.
Rhonda began her accounting career with Aero Tire and Tank in the late
80’s and most previously served as Controller at IBB Design Fine
Furnishings. Rhonda actively served as a Sunday School teacher at Park
Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She later served as A.W.A.N.A
Club leader and fulfilled many other roles at First Baptist Church
Hebron in Carrollton, Texas.
Rhonda was passionate about many things, but most of all she was
passionate about her relationship with the Lord and winning souls for
Christ. Her positive outlook and sweet personality touched everyone who
came in contact with her. She is truly loved by many.
Rhonda endured numerous health issues the last few years of her life,
but this only strengthened her faith. She recently felt a call to become
a Chaplain, so that she could minister to the sick and hurting, and
often spoke of her desire to obey and serve the Lord. She will be deeply
missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Family will receive visitors at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville,
Texas from 6-8 pm on Thursday February 28, 2019. A Celebration of Life
is scheduled for 11 am at First Baptist Church Hebron in Carrollton,
Texas on Friday March 1, 2019. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home,
or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Baptist
General Convention of Texas.
