James
"Ronnie" Neeley
September 3, 1947 - November 13, 2021
Whitney
James R. “Ronnie” Neeley, was born in Dallas, Texas on September 3,
1947, to Lester and Eloise Neeley. He passed away on November 13, 2021,
at the age of 74. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
friend to many during his life. He is survived by his wife of 28 years,
Kay Casey Neeley; his daughter, Mandi Neeley; two sons, Ashley, and
Douglas Blythe; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Wathenia Lampier;
bother-and-sister-in-law, Gary and Jane Ann Casey; numerous beloved
nieces and nephews; and one grandson, Quin Neeley, who lovingly referred
to him as “Pops”.
Ronnie was raised in Farmers Branch, Texas along with his brother, Gene.
The brothers loved racing go-carts and motorcycles. The family loved
horses and moved to Flower Mound, Texas in the 70s where they owned
horse stables and created a second family with “The Neeley Barn”
residents. He loved to rodeo, becoming an accomplished bronc and bull
rider. He stayed active with the local high school rodeo team throughout
his daughter’s school years. Known to many as “Cowboy”. His love for
horses remained constant throughout his life.
Ronnie was a proud Navy Veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam (1966-1969).
He worked for Central Freight Lines for 32 years after which he retired
to the “Lake Life” in Whitney, Texas where he and his wife, Kay lived
for 25 years making numerous friends. He loved to boat, fish, and spend
his days outdoors. He considered this the perfect life.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 20th from 10:00 am
to 12:00 pm at Marshall & Marshal Funeral Home, 201 N. Bosque, Whitney,
Texas. |
