James R. “Ronnie” Neeley, was born in Dallas, Texas on September 3, 1947, to Lester and Eloise Neeley. He passed away on November 13, 2021, at the age of 74. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many during his life. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kay Casey Neeley; his daughter, Mandi Neeley; two sons, Ashley, and Douglas Blythe; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Wathenia Lampier; bother-and-sister-in-law, Gary and Jane Ann Casey; numerous beloved nieces and nephews; and one grandson, Quin Neeley, who lovingly referred to him as “Pops”.

Ronnie was raised in Farmers Branch, Texas along with his brother, Gene. The brothers loved racing go-carts and motorcycles. The family loved horses and moved to Flower Mound, Texas in the 70s where they owned horse stables and created a second family with “The Neeley Barn” residents. He loved to rodeo, becoming an accomplished bronc and bull rider. He stayed active with the local high school rodeo team throughout his daughter’s school years. Known to many as “Cowboy”. His love for horses remained constant throughout his life.

Ronnie was a proud Navy Veteran serving 2 tours in Vietnam (1966-1969). He worked for Central Freight Lines for 32 years after which he retired to the “Lake Life” in Whitney, Texas where he and his wife, Kay lived for 25 years making numerous friends. He loved to boat, fish, and spend his days outdoors. He considered this the perfect life.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 20th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Marshall & Marshal Funeral Home, 201 N. Bosque, Whitney, Texas.
