OBITUARY Early Settler
Passes
Mrs. Caroline R. Nix was born April 29, 1842 and passed away Dec 1, 1933, at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Buddie Williams, near Denton. She was 91 years and 7
months old. Her body was laid to rest in Aken cemetery near Denton. Several
relatives from Dallas county were present at the funeral.
Besides Mrs. Williams she leaves another daughter, Mrs. L. E. Fyke, a
grand-daughter, Mrs. Epps Baker, a great grandson and daughter, Melvin and Wanda
Neely, all of this place.
Aunt Caroline, as she was known here had been a member of the Baptist church
since early in life. She possessed a sunny, cheerful disposition, very
interesting in conversation, keeping up with modern happenings. She had a very
keen intellect for her advanced age and was a deep reader. "Auntie" never seemed
old because her heart was young. She was loved by both young and old.
While she always seemed happy to be living she also had a desire to depart and
be with Christ and loved ones, and on Friday morning, Dec. 1st she fell asleep
to awaken in the glories of that world where eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for them that
love Him. Thus was the pasting of a very active influential and altogether
beautiful life.
At her request the songs "Heaven Holds All to Me," and "Golden Bells" were sung.
In her flower covered grave she awaits the coming of our Lord and the blessed
morning of the resurrection when the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Blessed are they who do His commandments for they have a right unto the tree of
life and shall enter in thru the gates into the city.
A friend.
