OBITUARY William Daniel
Nix W. D. Nix, former Carrollton citizen but residing now at
4507 Holland avenue in Dallas, died suddenly at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17 while
at 4009 Gilion avenue where he was superintending work on a residence. Mr. Nix
had not been feeling well for a few days and that morning was much worse but it
was not considered serious and so the new of his death came as a surprise and
shock to his family and his friends.
Will Nix was born July 26, 1878, about one mile east of Carrollton and would
have been 52 years of age next month. His father died being struck by lightning,
when Will was a small boy. He has resided all of his life in or near Carrollton
and was loved by all who knew him; the very large concourse of friends who came
to pay their last sad tribute to his memory speaking fully his worth and the
esteem in which he was held. he was a member of the First Baptist church at this
place, having accepted Christ as his Savior early in life and living his life in
conformity with His teachings.
Some twenty-five years ago he took as his wife, Miss Stella Good and the wife
and two daughters, Viola and Katherine, survive him; also one brother, Ross Nix,
and one sister, Mrs. Ada Brake, both residing here. Funeral services were held
Wednesday at four o'clock in the first Baptist church here. Rev. D. W. Nix, the
pastor, being in charge and assisted by Rev. D. A. Ross of the M. E. church.
Burial was in Forest Lawn
Cemetery. Eight nephews served as pallbearers. They were W. W. Brake, V. E.
Brake, E. W. Brake, Donald Ray Brake, Merrill Fyke of Dallas, Harold Grizzle of
Lake Dallas, Nix Brake, Daniel Nix of Carrollton. The Carrollton
