OBITUARY

RENE PAUL OUBRE
July 12, 1958 - November 21, 2017

Rene Paul Oubre, 59, of Carrollton, Texas passed away on November 21, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer.

Rene was born July 12, 1958 in New Iberia, Louisiana to proud parents, Harold and Gloria Oubre, who have both preceded him in death. Rene was the first of five children, followed by sisters Melissa and Catherine, and brothers Michael and Barry.

As a young boy, Rene spent his days as many young boys did: hunting, exploring the sugarcane fields behind his childhood home, and fishing the banks of bayou Teche on his grandparents' property. In 1968, his father took a job offer in Dallas, Texas, and the family loaded up their station wagon and moved to Texas for Harold's new career at Otis Engineering. Growing up, Rene attended Mary Immaculate School, and graduated from R. L. Turner High School in 1976. Following his grade school education, Rene enrolled in courses at Brookhaven College and graduated with an associates degree.

Rene followed in his father's footsteps and began a lifelong career with Otis Engineering at the age of 17, before he even walked the stage as a high school graduate. He began his career with Otis in the copy room, and eventually worked his way up to a career in computer programming for the engineering department, and provided support for field locations worldwide. Otis allowed Rene the opportunity to see the world, and he took advantage of the opportunity to travel overseas to countries in Europe. His most fond memories were his trip to Scotland, where he would often reflect on the food, the people, and the beautiful nature he was able to experience.
As a token of gratitude, Otis gifted Rene with a Rolex watch on his 35th anniversary with the company. Rene, being the humble man and passionate hunter he was, sold the Rolex and purchased a brand new ATV to take to the hunting lease, which he named "Rolex" in honor of this prestigious gift awarded to him. In 2015, Rene's career with Otis came to an end, and he transitioned into retired life.

Throughout his adult life, Rene was remembered as a lover of hunting, fishing, scuba diving, and cooking delicious meals and treats for his friends and family. He also was a "dad" to two of mans's best friends throughout his life, "Patch", the dalmatian, and "Nakita", the German shepherd.

Rene is survived by his son, Chad Oubre, daughter-in-law, Lynnea Oubre, grandchildren Payton and Charlie Oubre, his siblings, sisters Melissa Bailey and Catherine Eichorn, and brothers Michael Oubre and Barry Oubre, and his many nieces and nephews.

The memorial service for Mr. Rene Oubre will be held Saturday, December 2nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Rhoton Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1511 I-35 E Carrollton, TX 75006.
