Marie Palmer
born July 20, 1943Glenda Marie Palmer, 82, of Carrollton,
Texas passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2025.
Glenda was born on July 20, 1943 in Carrollton, Texas to Edna
Marie Odom and Raymond Glenn Odom. She graduated from Carrollton High
School in 1961 and attended The Caruth School of Dental Hygiene and
Baylor University College of Dentistry. She worked as a dental hygienist
for 30 years. She served in The Good News Club sharing the gospel with
countless children. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of
Carrollton where she volunteered as a Sunday School teacher. She
dedicated many years volunteering for the Children’s Christmas Mall on
the Carrollton Square. She was an officer of the Peter's Colony
Historical Society and a proud Board Member of the Carrollton Historical
Society where she was dedicated to preserving her hometown’s history.
Glenda will be always be remembered for her witty personality and her
unwavering love for her family and friends. She had a love for leopard
print, The Rise Soufflés, and all things sweet. She loved traveling to
Europe, singing, playing piano, reading comic strips in the newspaper
and she never missed a day of the New York Times crossword puzzles. She
will always be fondly remembered as "Ninny" by her loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlan Palmer; her son, Clay
Palmer; and her parents, Edna and Glenn Odom.
Glenda is survived by her daughter, Mary Harris and spouse, Ed Harris;
Her son, John Palmer; Her sister, Kathy Hansen and spouse, Chris Hansen;
Sister, Vicki Taliaferro and spouse Bill Taliaferro; Grandchildren,
Blake (Katie) Harris, Morgan (Michael) Lowrance, Laney (Trey) Buchanan
and Mary Harris; Great Grandchild, Riley Buchanan; Nieces and nephews,
Kendra (Andy) Jones, Erik (Amanda) Hansen, Matthew (Eva) Hansen, Jen
(Jeff) Babb, Holly (Luke) Courtney, Kelly (John) Spurlock.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday October 1, 2025 at 10
a.m. at Metrocrest Funeral Home in Carrollton, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Africa Inland Mission, in
support of Glenda’s nephew Matthew and Eva Hansen. |
