OBITUARY
D. C. Perry Passes Away
D. C. Perry was born near Carrollton, Texas in the year 1858, January 10.
He died August 10, 1930, in St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas, after a short
illness. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.
W. Perry, early settlers of this country, coming here from Illinois.
He and Miss Frances Grimes were united in marriage in the year 1884. To
this union was born one daughter, Mrs.
Pearl Gravley.
He was converted in August 1891 and united with the Union Baptist church; of
which he was a member at the time of his death. Besides his wife and daughter
and eight grandchildren there are surviving him one sister, Mrs. Lura Fyke, and
two brothers, W. H. and J. H. Perry.
Uncle De's last illness was of short duration. Shortly after he was stricken he
was carried to St. Paul's Hospital but the malady failed to respond to the
treatment of skillful physicians and the passing away was less than two weeks
from the beginning of his illness.
The deceased was an outstanding character in this community, firm in his
convictions and holding fast to what he believed was right.
God had blessed Uncle De with a goodly portion of this worlds goods. His
management and judgment were wise. His purse was open to every good and worthy
cause of his neighborhood. He gave liberally to the church and school His pastor
and church found him a frriend in time of need. Our superintendents found him
responsive, with always the interest of the school at heart, cherishing the
thought that he might someday do greater things in educational development for
the boys and girls of this community. He sought not the praise of men for his
liberalities but in a quiet modest way he lifted where it was most needed.
He looked well to the needs of his household. They will miss his wise
counsel and loving deeds. His church will miss him because he was one of her
strongest pillars. The people in our village will miss his smile and cheerful
greeting and his handclasp.
His friends were many as was manifested by the multitude that followed,
sorrowing to his last resting place, where as the summer sun sank low we left
him to await that bright and glorious morning when the clouds have rolled back
the mist will have been cleared away; and our Savior comes to call the righteous
dead to meet Him in the air. Until then let us put our trust in God. Remember to
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He will sustain thee, He will not suffer the
righteous to be moved" He himself was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief.
"The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away blessed be the name of the Lord."
Mrs. Earl Skiles
