GREENVILLE — Jon Gregory Pier was born Nov. 15, 1962, in Greenville, to
Samuel Bradford Pier, Jr. and Betty Joyce Dooley.
He passed away on July 25, 2012, at his home in Grapevine.
Funeral services will be on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the
funeral home.
He is preceded in death by his father. Sam Pier, Jr.
He survived by his mother, Betty Stocks and step-dad Wayne Stocks of Denton; his
brother, Gil Pier and wife Georgia of Rockwall; his sisters, Susan Dykes and
husband Don of Parker and Lisa Zimmerman and husband Jeff of McKinney,;
step-brother Gary Stocks and wife Thin of Plano; nephews Brad Freeman and wife
Julie of Fort Worth, and Bryan Dykes and wife Lauren of Wylie,Samuel Zimmerman
of McKinney, nephew, Daren Dykes of Flower Mound,; niece, Emily Martin and
husband Drew of Wylie; and two great-nieces, Meghan and Brooke Freeman of Fort
Worth.
Greg attended school in Greenville through the ninth grade (1977) when his
mother moved to Carrollton and he attended Newman Smith High School where he
graduated in 1981.
He worked at T.G.I. Friday’s corporate office out of high school and he worked
for Sound Warehouse and Home Depot part time. He then worked at Jet Printing and
later Nieman Printing Dallas to present.
Greg loved sports, art, history, music, collecting (many things); he loved his
friends and his family. He loved spending Friday nights with his mother and
step-dad.
Greg spoke of his love for his family to everyone and how much he enjoyed the
family get-togethers. He loved the babies! He played and played with the
children. He had a wonderful loving nature and great since of humor. He had such
a big heart and enjoyed people. He loved exploring new places and digging into
history and artifacts.
Greg was a wonderful, sweet, caring son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew
and friend to everyone! We will all miss him so very much.
Pallbearers will be Brad Freeman, Bryan Dykes, Daren Dykes, Drew Martin, Ken
Eberhart and Kevin Karl. Honorary pallbearers are John Stogsdil and Samuel
Zimmerman. |
