D. Polley, Jr.
October 23, 1943 ~ July 27, 2022 (age 78)A celebration of life
for William D. Polley Jr., 78, of Winnsboro TX, is scheduled for 11:00
AM, Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills
Point. He was welcomed home in the arms of his Lord and Savior while
visiting with family and friends on July 27, 2022, in Terrell, TX. Bill
was born on October 23, 1943, in Myrtle Beach S.C. to William Dee Polley
Sr. and Doris Mae Slocum Polley, both of whom preceded him in death
along with his loving wife of 56 years Carolyn Gwen Polley and great
grandson William Dean Wampler.
Bill grew up in Carrollton, TX. and graduated Carrollton High School in
1962. Upon graduation Bill joined the U.S. Navy with his life long best
friend Johnny Arthur. After serving in the Vietnam War, Bill returned
home to Carrollton and started his career in the Automotive business.
Most of his years were spent at Stephenson Motor Company, where he won
many awards. During this time, he also served as a reserve Deputy
Sheriff for Dallas County, where he was a firearms instructor and was
active with the Sheriff’s Posse.
Bill moved to Terrell TX. in 1987 where he enjoyed the country life and
became active in the rodeo world. At this point in his life, Bill found
his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He became active in Oak Grove Baptist
Church and was ordained as a Deacon. Bill loved the Lord and later was
ordained as a Pastor. He began preaching at the high school rodeos and
later was one of the founders of Caney Creek Cowboy Church in Grand
Saline, TX. Through the years Bill led many people young and old to the
Lord and made friendships of a lifetime. After Gwen’s passing, Bill
found new companionship with his current wife Beverly, of which they
enjoyed two years together before his passing.
Bill is survived by wife, Beverly Polley of Winnsboro and her family.
Brother Frank Polley and wife Sissie of Little Elm. Uncle Pete Slocum
and wife Candy of Terrell, Daughter Cheryl Bodin and husband Paul of
Punta Gorda, FL. Son Billy Polley and wife Lisa of Terrell. Nine
grandchildren and Nineteen great grandchildren, and special lifelong
friends Johnny and Carol Arthur of San Marcus, Ca. Bill was loved by
many and will be greatly missed by all the ones he has touched in this
life. |
